About This Retrospective Gallery

The images:
Some of the images in this gallery go back over twenty years. They were part of the journey for me and are inextricably tied to my current work.

There is one image from each of these earlier series in this gallery. If you want to see the entire series to which they belong click the "retrospect-full series" link at the exit to the gallery.

As in the main gallery, the paintings are presented one to a page, as objects of meditation - so I hope you can view this site when you have some time to consider the work.

On the lower left you will see a mention of the series to which the painting belongs along with the range of sizes and medium of the works.

I also put quotations I like on these gallery pages.

Paintings speak in their own language, but as a general guide I would say these paintings are "about" suggestion, imagination and daily experience; about the mystery of our lives.

The paintings in this gallery aim to exist in the realm of poetry - where suggestion is more important than description, conception or ideology. Where meditation and introspection - our most private inner lives - are center stage.

But also this: I love the medium of painting. There is a joy in the medium itself; an astonishing suggestiveness. I hope you enjoy looking at this work in the spirit in which it was done - in the spirit of engrossing fun.
