Super Bowl Questions

Here are some questions to ponder, Super Bowl and not, occurring before, during, and after the Super Duper…

  • How could the Giants have won the Super?
  • I was pulling for the Pats, but wasn't that a great game?
  • Why does Hillary look so worn down and Barack so just-got-up-from-a-refreshing-nap? Public life seems to be taking its toll on Hillary more than the other candidates. McCain looks fresher.
  • How can you not love an underdog?
  • Why does the media continue to emphasize the quarterbacks when it is clearly a team game to win or lose?
  • Wasn't Jordine Sparks' rendition of the national anthem the best you have ever heard? Toning down the scat singing until a touch at the end — the sweetest most musical rendition of the impossible-to-sing piece we've heard.
  • The Declaration of Independence sequence before the Super Bowl seemed to work. But why didn't they get a skillful director and editor? Cinematography was good.
  • Why are 1/3 of most TV shows devoted to promotions of upcoming shows? Some magazine shows, like Entertainment Tonight devote half their time to promoting their next segment, which is little more than the promotional material.
  • What happened to the great Super Bowl commercials? The only commercial that was really funny was for Pepsi Max, or some name like that, for a ginseng laced soda. (You know, it was the one with people falling asleep and then after the astonishingly refreshing beverage they are dancing like nutbrains.)
  • Burress is getting too much of the credit; it was the player, whose name I do not know, who caught the 35 yard pass on the final drive, who made the spectacular play of the game. The guy held onto the catch, pressed into his helmet, as he went down. Who caught that pass?
  • Speaking of Barack, his wife seems a cut above the usual public wife. She appears more complicated, less comfortable with the silly rituals of public exhibit. She is an unknown. Come to think of it, so is Barack. What will they be like as first couple if they go all the way?
  • How could the Giants have won the Super? Was this question already asked? Let's try an answer: They earned it. In their last match-up with the Pats they could have won. The Giants have a better defense. Defenses win football games. What else is new?
