Ok, you can be cynical about the subtext, but still, this is something to stop and look at, and honor:

Schwarzenegger also noted an election evening call from Gov. Gray Davis, who he said was "very kind, very nice."

Sources said Davis had congratulated Schwarzenegger and talked easily with the GOP governor-elect, telling him he enjoyed Schwarzenegger's movies...On an emotional night, Davis even joked...But Davis also turned serious and pledged to assist in transition - as he said former GOP Gov. Pete Wilson had done for him...

Right, right. It's pro forma, who knows how they really feel? Still, there is a nobility in our system of government expressed here - at this transfer of power after a bitter battle.
