A composer knows his work as a woodsman knows a path he has traced and retraced, while a listener is confronted by the same work as one is in the woods by a plant he has never seen before. John Cage You are told a lot about your education, but some beautiful memory,
preserved since childhood, is perhaps the best education of all.
If a man carries many such memories into life with him, he is
saved for the rest of his days. Not the power to remember, but its very opposite, the power to
